Lesson: 3 - 2.3.2010 Australian Photographer - Steve Parish

Steve Parish

At the end of lesson 2 we were asked to find a photographer, preferably Australian and blog about them =] now I'm sure most people are well aware of who Steve Parish is in the world of photography. But i couldn't resist spending a bit more time browsing through the countless stunning photographs he produces. I just finished reading a book of his called Wildlife Photography and found it was well worth the read as it has many different shooting tips on areas such as weather, landscape, how to photograph particular animals, climate, habitat and equipment.

I first truly appreciated Steve Parish's photography when he had an exhibition at floriade in 2007. His exhibition was featured inside a portable tent but this did not at all take away from the magic of his photographs. I still have a seal poster up on my wall (below) that i got from his exhibition =] But Steve has done a lot more than just take photographs he has become very successful though his publication business. This includes everything from calenders, magnets, postcards to children's books and educational books. He has done a lot to promote Australia, it's animals and wildlife as well as allow us to experience the magical creatures and places that he has photographed.

His website can be found at http://www.steveparish.com.au

Just to post some of my favourite photographs by Steve Parish!!! All images from http://www.steveparish.com.au

Australian Fur Seal

By the way =] this is the poster i have on my wall =] i love it!!! The curious eyes of the seal and the direction of the photograph, the vibrant blue sea as well as the rays of light dazzling through the top left corner all just work together so perfectly. =]

Flinders Ranges South Australia

Melbourne Victoria

These three images clearly show Steve Parish's diversity in his ability to photograph a variety of scenes. The close up and personal animal photographs to the cityscape's and the beautiful nature that he is so passionate about.
